I am very happy and excited by the experiences that we are going to have throughout this Volunteer Program and I sincerely hope that we make strong bonds of friendship between us: volunteers from countries so distant and different but who are united by the vocation of service and deep desire to help and love.

I know that in this Program the volunteers are people with a great vocation in service, social conscience and deep desire to be active agents of change to combat poverty and discrimination, to promote of human rights, social inclusion and who are concern about the environmental issue and global warming. And sincerely I am very honored to be involved next to you, brave volunteers.

Soy Kristín y tengo 24 años. Soy de Reykjavík, la capital de Islandia, pero hace un año vivo en Suecia. Vivo en una ciudad en el sur del país que se llama Lund. Allí hay muchos de estudiantes y es una ciudad muy viva pero también se siente como un pueblo. En Lund tengo mi piso pero tengo mi hogar en ambos países. He estudiado turismo en la universidad de Islandia y voy a seguir estudiando ciencias del medio ambiento y desarrollo sostenible en la universidad de Lund. Voy de vez en cuando a Islandia para visitar a mi familia y para trabajar. Más o menos dos veces al año.

Mis padres están separados y yo y mi hermana mayor nos criamos con mi madre en Reykjavík dónde ella trabaja como enferma. Mi padre tiene tres hijos con su esposa. Mis hermanos tienen 19, 18 y 5 años y la familia viven en Vestmannaeyjar (las islas de los del oeste). Mi hermana es ingeniero civil y mi hermano también ha empezado estudiar para ser ingeniero. My name is Luz Gisella, I’m 24 year old, my birthday is in December I don’t have brothers and sisters, I live in the grandparents’ house with them in Cusco, I grow up with them and my mother, I am studying the last cycle of System Engineering at the San Antonio Abad University of Cusco also working at Guaman Poma de Ayala Organization in the area of Systems since four years ago. I like my job because I can be creative with my different tasks to help people.

I think that I’ve a sense of humor and I’m a sensitive, sociable and curious person too, all the time it’s interesting and exciting to listen and learn different point of view for the personal growth, also I think to start for solving problems our society is very important to know our reality so the volunteers are good places to start knowing our social problems.

Almost always on Saturday afternoon I’ve my meetings in UNEC, for me UNEC is more than a small space in my life, I think that is my passion at this stage of my life. Yo soy Hanna. Una chica sueca de veintiun años. Vivo en Estocolmo, la capital de Suecia. He vivido aqui toda mi vida y a mi me gusta mucho. Creo que el hecho de que he crecido en Suecia y en Estocolmo me ha afectado mucho. Por ejemplo, me encanta la naturaleza y la agua. Esos son cosas tipicas de Suecia, pienso. Estocolmo está construido sobre 14 islas.

Mi ciudad tiene un población que ronda dos millones, y tiene todas cosas que normalmente hay en una gran ciudad. Pero todavía el campo es muy cerca. Eso me encanta.

Tengo dos padres y dos hermanos. Mi hermana se llama Jenny y tiene treinta y tres años. Trabaja con biología, principalmente con genética. Mi hermano tiene veintenueve años y trabaja con derecho. Ellos se han mudado de la casa de nuestros padres hace mucho tiempo. Yo me mudé hace dos años. He empezado a estudiar para ser una enfermera y voy a seguir con eso cuando vuelvo a Suecia, después de este curso.

Hi! My name’s Raul and I’m 22 years old. Well, I live in Chiclayo -Perú “the city of the friendship” I was born here. I have a big family, 5 brothers and 1 sister. Three months ago finished the university. I’m social comunicater and work in “Esperanza center” an institution with 10 years working to human development of the region. I’m working in an proyect called “adolescents caretakers of the environment” s, it’s very interesting.

I also work with others Youngs in my church” Juan Maria Vianney St” here I’ve had experiences that changed my life. Thanks to these today I understand a lot things importants to me. In my 6 years here I’ve been catechist and coordinator of a young’s community. Here I’ve met my best friends.

In my free time I like talking with my friends, go out, and I love watching documental films of religious histories. In the holidays if it’s posible I travel to others cities. Me llamo Caroline y tengo 23 años. Soy de Örebro en Suecia. Örebro está en el centro de Suecia y es la sexta ciudad más grande de Suecia. Örebro está dos horas de Estocolmo qué es la capital de Suecia.

Después de terminar el instituto he hecho cosas diferentes hasta ahora. He estado en España 13 semanas para estudiar español. Luego trabajé 9 meses en Estados Unidos como una niñera. El año pasado viajé unos meses por América central. Cuando he vivido en Örebro, he trabajado en una lavandería.

Mi familia es bastante grande en comparación con otras familias en Suecia. Mi madre se llama Inger y trabaja en una guardería. Mi padre se llama Alf y es un carpintero. Tengo una hermana mayor qué se llama Isabell, tiene 28 años y es una enfermera. Tengo dos hermaños menores qué son gemelos. Ellos se llaman Erik y Alexander y tienen 15 años. Twenty years ago, I was born in Lima and it was similar to this time: it was August and it was winter, too. My parents decide to call me Allison and in this moment I start a new time of my life that I’m going to share with you, I’m really happy for that, I know we are going to make strong bonds of union of our cultures!

How about me? I study Communication at University of Lima, I choose this career because it joins much things that I’m attracted: philosophy, social development, photography, cinema, etc. Besides I like a lot the music (trova, rock –pop, peruvian music) and I play the guitar, too.

I have been doing volunteer “work” since 2005, and from that moment my “view” of the people and situations which surrounded me change definitively. At the present, I participate in the volunteer program “Magis” which is a latin word that means “more”, “be more to give a better service”. We are 7 teams, all working with different places and problematic; my team of Magis goes to an asylum in Lima called “Canevaro”, in that place there are approximately 300 people (grandparents), but we just share our Sunday with 4O of them. This experience is more less new for me because I use to work with children, but I have learned too much from this oldie people. Also I have done a grateful friendship with my team of Magis. Me gusta mucho la música y pasé dos años en una formación de piano y canto. No tengo un único tipo favorito de música pero me encanta la música independiente, la world music, el reggae, la música folklórica de Suecia y de diferentes paises.. Me apetece claro conocer más la música y la cultura de Peru

También me gusta mucho la fotografía y la primavera pasada fui a un curso de foto artística. Me gusta mucho el arte y la cultura de todas formas, el teatro, el dibujo…

My name is Aldo, I was born in June 04 of 1980 in the river border, near to sky. Puno, mi native land and the place that a live nowadays is 3 850 meters over level the sea, in meddle of two ancient cultures how quechua and aymara.

I studied Ciencias de la Comunicación Social in the Universidad Nacional del Altiplano, actually works in Asociación Servicios Educativos Rurales ungovernment institution, how journalist and a committee editorial member of “Cabildo Abierto” magazine.

At 2001 be in the Unión Nacional de Estudiantes Católicos and, however I finished the university, mi community is very close to help other young’s personal process.

Mi favorite pastime are watch movies, listen to music, read and write. I prefer fiction literature and songwriter music.
